Membership

Explore company membership in the Large User Group.

We welcome applications from organizations with significant IBM i environments that are interested in learning, contributing, and engaging with the LUG community.

Is your organization a good fit?

The LUG Board reviews each prospective member as a whole, considering the organization's IBM i environment, experience, and potential contribution to the community. The following guidelines help begin that evaluation.

Membership guidelines

LUG membership is intended for companies that operate and directly manage substantial IBM i environments supporting corporate business functions.

IBM i environment size

Current minimum guidelines are:

  • 30 IBM i licenses on no more than three POWER Enterprise servers, or
  • 60 IBM i licenses on at least 12 POWER Scale-out servers
Operational scale

A significant number of partitions and servers are being managed.

Business continuity

High Availability and Disaster Recovery infrastructure is in place.

Forward-looking use of IBM i

The organization demonstrates a commitment to staying current, adopting modern technologies, and exploring new ways to extend the capabilities and business value of the IBM i platform.

Mutual benefit

Membership should benefit both the prospective member and the LUG community.

Qualifying systems must support corporate business functions and be managed by employees of the prospective member company. Only employees of member companies and IBM may participate in LUG activities.

This form is for a company membership application, not an individual LUG user ID. Please contact your company's Primary LUG Contact to request a user ID.

Fields marked with an asterisk are required.

Confidentiality

Membership requires a LUG-specific non-disclosure agreement between IBM and the member company. IBM may share information about plans and strategies during LUG activities. Member companies aren't expected to disclose their own confidential information.

Organization and governance

The LUG is organized, incorporated, and operated by its members for the common benefit of LUG members and IBM. It is not an IBM organization. The LUG determines its membership, and the Board reserves the right to limit the number of member companies.
